ABILENE, TX – On the afternoon of Tuesday April 2, 2013, at approximately 6:46 PM, officers of the Abilene Police Department (APD) responded to a reported injured subject/shooting in the 1300 block of Baylor Drive. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a young adult with a single gunshot wound to the neck. This person, identified as Joshua Dean Noah (06/17/93), was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the APD Criminal Investigative Persons Unit, Special Victim’s Unit, Youth Division and Forensics responded to investigate. The on-going investigation has revealed that the shooting stemmed from a domestic altercation involving Noah, another adult, and a juvenile teen who were family members. The shooting culminated a series of events throughout the afternoon where Noah was alleged to have threatened the other two family members with a firearm in addition to restricting their movements and their ability to communicate with persons outside the residence.

During a physical struggle between Noah and the adult family member, the juvenile was able to gain access to the gun which had been in the possession of Noah. Fearing for the safety of the victim family members, the juvenile shot Noah.

The three family members were the only persons in the home at the time of this shooting. Based on the investigation, a warrant was issued for Noah and he was arrested for Aggravated Kidnapping with a bond set at $500,000.

Because this case involves a juvenile, specific identifying information regarding ages, genders, and relationships of family members has been withheld. Child Protective Services is assisting with this continuing investigation.
