Suspect Arrested for Deadly Conduct in connection with Halloween Night Murder

ABILENE, TX – Police arrested Joseph Anthony Carrillo (pictured) , DOB 9/21/1994 late this afternoon for Deadly Conduct. Witnesses report Joseph had a gun and fired several rounds at a residence in the 4100 Blk. of Waldemar on October 31 approximately 11:40 p.m. A short time later, the car Carrillo was a passenger in, hit and killed Jesse Cortinez on South 7th East of Butternut. The 16 year old driver of the car that was arrested for Jesse Cortinez’s murder is also alleged to have been the driver of the vehicle when Carrillo reportedly fired at the residence in the 4100 Blk of Waldemar. The juvenile has also been charged with Deadly Conduct a 3rd degree felony.
Joseph Anthony Carrillo is being held in the Taylor County Jail on a $100,000 bond for the Deadly Conduct charge. The Juvenile offender is still being held at the Juvenile Detention Center for Murder and Deadly Conduct. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
