ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department wants to encourage citizens to register for Rodney’s Run which will be held Saturday, March 21, at The Melvin Martin Center for Children’s Safety starting at 8 a.m. Registration cost is $25 for adults, $10 for children 13 and under, and $50 Family special for 2 parents and 2 children. All the proceeds benefit the Rodney Holder Memorial Scholarship Fund for children of Police Officers, Fire Fighters, and Taylor County Sheriff Deputies. A free t-shirt is guaranteed to the first 100 entries.

Runners can choose either a timed or untimed 5k Run/Walk. The course will start at Safety City and wind its way through the surrounding neighborhood and end at Safety City. The course will be clearly marked for all runners.

Chief Stan Standridge says “We encourage citizens to come out for a brisk run or walk. This is a healthy and fun way to show your support for your community and your Abilene Police Department.” To register, go to and fill out entry form and drop off at the Law Enforcement Center, 450 Pecan. Pre-registration packets may be picked up at the LEC on Friday, March 20, between noon and 6 p.m.
