ABILENE TX- The Abilene Police Department was called out to a major accident involving two pedestrians who were struck by a vehicle at 12:20 p.m. June 23, 2015 near the intersection of S. 14th and Matador Streets. Reports given to investigators show two young females ages 12 and 13 were attempting to cross S. 14th northbound near Matador St. The two crossed halfway and stopped in the middle turning lane as a pick-up truck was approaching. The driver of the truck, 49 year old Cesar Limon, says he braked when he saw the two girls attempting to cross. When he saw them hesitate, he began to accelerate. The two females saw him hit his brakes the first time and thought he was stopping so they tried to run across to the other side. That’s when the truck impacted one, possibly both of the females. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No citations were issued.
