Fraud Unit Looking to Identify Counterfeiters (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department Fraud Unit is looking to identify two people suspected of a current string of counterfeit bills being passed through several Abilene merchants. The two individuals pictured below were captured by store surveillance shortly after passing counterfeit money. The male and female were described to be driving a tan or white Chevrolet HHR style vehicle.

These suspects are targeting high volume merchants in hopes of passing the money before being caught. The suspects are also purchasing prepaid credit cards and merchant gift cards to allow for the counterfeit money to be laundered into legitimate funds. These suspects face a 3rd Degree Felony Forgery of Currency charge. The Fraud Unit is working on 10 cases suspected to be from these individuals. The police department urges anyone with information to call (325) 676 – 8477 (TIPS) and you could receive a cash reward.
