by Public Information Officer, Monday, January 18, 2016, 21:12 (695 days ago)

ABILENE, TX – At 8:33 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016, employees of Hendrick Hospital called the Abilene Police Department due to suspicious circumstances. An 18 year old female had arrived at the hospital for treatment for severe bleeding. Upon examination, medical personnel determined the bleeding was due to her giving birth to a full-term baby within the last few hours. The female was not accompanied by the infant. Medical personnel called police for assistance.

Detectives responded to the 400 Block of S. 25th Street from information gathered through the investigation. Detectives were able to locate tissue remains inside the sewer of the residence and later located the body of the infant hidden inside the residence. There was visible trauma to the body of the infant and this case is being treated as a homicide. Police continue to question several suspects and this is an active investigation. More information will be released at a later time.

Respectfully,

Rick Tomlin
Public Information Coordinator
