Suspect Arrested for Discharging Weapon Inside Motel Room (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – Abilene Police Department Detectives arrested Esequiel Anzo (34) late Thursday, February 25, 2016 for Second Degree Felony Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. On Monday, February 22, 2016, at around 10:30 p.m., Police were dispatched to a motel in the 5600 Block of South First in reference to an injured subject. A tenant in one of the rooms had been shot in the back while resting, seated on his bed. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The investigation revealed that someone had fired a shot from the adjacent room, going through the wall of the room and striking the victim in his back. The person in the adjacent room, later identified as Anzo, fled the scene prior to police arriving. Detectives discovered he had fired a round from a handgun into the headboard of his bed, striking the victim in his back. He was arrested and is currently being held at the Taylor County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
