APD Searching for Person of Interest in Overnight Homicide (Press Release)

SEARCHING FOR PERSON OF INTEREST IN OVERNIGHT HOMICIDE

ABILENE, TX –

On 4-17-16 at approximately 1:00 am, Abilene 911 received a call of a gunshot victim at a residence on the north side of Abilene. Upon arrival officers were informed of a second gunshot victim located inside another nearby residence. The victim from the first residence was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The victim who was located at the second residence was deceased at the scene. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and began an investigation.

At this time CID has been able to identify a person of interest in this homicide. Manuel Guadalupe Garcia,, age 20. Garcia has two active felony warrants for his arrest, one for a parole violation and the other is a federal warrant for possession of methamphetamine. He should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. Do not approach him under any circumstances.

The deceased victim was transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The specific block locations of these incidents are not being revealed at this time to avoid inadvertent notification to the family of the deceased. Detectives and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office are working to establish the identity so proper notification can be made to next of kin. At this time, we will not be releasing any further information regarding the circumstances surrounding this homicide.
