ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department welcomes the newest member of the Department’s K-9 Unit. Ringo is a 14 month old Belgian Malinois who comes to the APD from Europe. Ringo and his handler, Officer Brandon Scott underwent 6 weeks of intensive training. Ringo received a Certification through the U.S. Police Canine Association Region Twenty-Five, and both he and Officer Scott are now ready to patrol the streets of Abilene. “We are pleased to have Ringo as part of the APD K9 unit. Our citizens will be well served with our full complement of canines on the force” – said Chief Stan Standridge

Officer Brandon Scott is a seven year veteran of the Abilene Police Department. This is his second dog. Ringo replaces Officer Scott’s previous partner who was medically retired and therefore came at no cost to the Department. This brings the Abilene Police Department K-9 unit back up to five dogs, four on Patrol and one in Narcotics.
