Vandals Hit Downtown Area (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department is releasing surveillance video from a downtown business on Cypress St., of two suspects who need to be identified. The video is dated Thursday, September 8, 2016. On that same day, the Abilene Police Department received three reports of slashed tires in the same area where the surveillance video shows these two suspects. City of Abilene property located on the 500 block of Cypress had three vehicles with slashed tires. A citizen on the 700 block of Sunset St. reported they had a vehicle with slashed tires and finally, a citizen near the 1000 block of N. Mockingbird reported they had their tires slashed. This vandalism occurred in the overnight hours.

On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, the Abilene Police Department received nine reports of slashed tires and two reports of broken windshields, most of the incidents occurred in North Abilene in and around the downtown area. Among the businesses affected were: the Abilene Civic Center; City of Abilene property on 500 Cypress (previously affected); a bank located on the 1100 block of Pine; a resident on the 2500 block of Greenbriar; the West Central Texas Water District on 400 block of Hickory; a floral shop on the 900 block of N. 18; a resident on the 100 block of Pleasant Hill Dr.; a resident on the 5500 block of Fairmont; a resident on 2500 Nonesuch, all reported slashed tires. A resident on N. 19th reportedly had his SUV windshield broken and a car lot on South Danville reported two vehicles with broken windshields.
