Abilene Fraud Unit Arrests Female for Forging Social Security Documents (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – On the morning of January 17, 2017, Officers with the Abilene Police Department Fraud Unit and the Crimes Against Property Unit executed a search warrant at a home located on the 5200 Block of Questa Dr. for forged documents. Found upon execution of the warrant were forged Social Security Administration income verification paperwork used to obtain payday loans in various person’s names.

Betty Carol Burleson (48) was arrested for violation of Texas Penal Code 32.21 Forgery of a Government Document a 3rd Degree Felony. She is being held at the Taylor County Jail on a $15,000 Bond. The victims and payday loan locations are still being identified. Businesses who have been victimized by this fraud are encouraged to contact Detective Gabe Thompson with the Abilene Police Dept. Fraud Unit at (325) 676-6616. The police department is still investigating persons involved in the manufacture of these forged Social Security Income documents.
