ABILENE, TX – Since yesterday at approximately 12:50 p.m. the Abilene Police Department has received four calls in reference to a suspect physically attempting to sexually assault females with the most recent occurring around 8:35 a.m. this morning. The Police Department has been working nonstop to find the person responsible for these assaults.

While every Officer and Detective was canvassing the area this morning looking for the suspect, the Department’s Crime Analyst was combing through multiple calls for service in an attempt to find any possible leads. Ultimately, a call sheet was located involving a suspect harassing a female at a city bus stop. Research revealed that this suspect matched the description of the sexual assault suspect and lived near all the incidents.

Once identified, Officers contacted 38 year old Joshua Day at his residence in the 300 block of Peach. Joshua showed signs of being in a recent struggle and consented to coming to the Law Enforcement Center to be interviewed and subsequently was charged with four counts of 3rd Degree Felony Attempted Sexual Assault, 3rd Degree Felony warrant for Injury to Disabled, and
“B” Misdemeanor warrant for Theft.
