ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department’s SWAT Team arrested 38 year old Richard Earl Daniels in a north Abilene home after barricading himself when police arrived to confirm his location. Police received a tip that Daniels, who was wanted for Possession of Meth, Assault Family Violence, Sexual Assault of a Child, and Theft, was at the home. Police arrived at the house located in the 2100 Block of Parramore St. at approximately 9:13 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019. The suspect refused to come out and barricaded himself in the home. SWAT responded and after a 2.5 hour stand-off, the suspect was taken into custody. SWAT had to deploy gas – Oleoresin Capsicum (O.C.) rounds before the suspect ultimately tried escaping by jumping from the attic of the home after kicking out a wall. The only other person in the home, a female, came out when police first arrived without incident. Daniels was taken into custody. An investigation continues.
