“Peeping Tom” Incidents (Press Release)

by Public Information Officer, Friday, September 30, 2011, 02:00 (2703 days ago)

There have been two incidents recently involving what is commonly referred to as a “Peeping Tom.” Both incidents occurred at south side Abilene restaurants in the public restrooms. These incidents are very similar in nature and the suspect descriptions in both incidents are also very similar.

In both incidents women were spied on while in a bathroom stall. The suspect was seen leaning over the top of the stall wall in order to watch the female victim. The lighting in the bathroom had been dimmed so the suspect would not cast a shadow.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, and he is about 5’02” to 5’04”. He is in his late 30’s or 40’s with dark hair that is greying on the sides.

We want to caution women who use public restrooms to be aware of the lighting in the bathroom. If it appears to be unusually dim please contact the management and do not remain in the restroom alone.

There has been no physical contact between the suspect and any of these women.

Anyone with information on these incidents is encouraged to contact the Abilene Police Department or “Crime Stoppers” at 676-TIPS.
