Motor Vehicle Burglaries (Press Release)

by Public Information Officer, Monday, December 12, 2011, 01:00 (2194 days ago)

2011 has seen a significant decrease in Motor Vehicle Burglaries. Currently we are at 864 which is down from 1178 for the same time period (January 1st to November 30th) of last year. From October 9th to November 5th of this year we have had 58 Motor Vehicle Burglaries. 72.4% of these show no forced entry which means that in all likelihood the vehicles were not locked.

We would like to remind everyone that it is very important to secure your belongings in your vehicle. Simply locking your vehicle will cause the perpetrators to bypass your vehicle and look for an easier target. We would also like to remind everyone to never leave valuables in plain sight in your vehicle.

This is a busy time of year for Motor Vehicle Burglaries with all the Christmas shopping going on. We hope these reminders will help keep your valuables safe this Christmas season.
