Fatality Traffic Collision North Treadaway Blvd at N. 10th (Press Release)

On Sunday April 15, 2012 at approximately 8:51 p.m. the Abilene Police Department received a call of a major motor vehicle crash at the intersection of N. Treadaway and N. 10th St. Initial officers at the scene discovered a white Mitsubishi Mirage and a gray Mercedes ML320 which had both come to rest at the southwest corner of the intersection. There were no witnesses to the crash, but both drivers were able to speak to officers.

The gray Mercedes had been southbound in the outside lane of N. Treadaway. The white Mitsubishi was northbound in the center turn lane of N. Treadaway and attempted a left turn onto N. 10th Street. The collision occurred as the Mitsubishi attempted the left turn into the path of the Mercedes.

Both occupants of the Mitsubishi were transported to Hendrick Trauma Center. The driver is identified as William Don Huff, black male age 63 of Abilene. Huff is listed in good condition and was undergoing treatment for his injuries at the time of this release. The passenger of the Mitsubishi is identified as Lester Ware, black male age 53 of Abilene. Ware died while undergoing treatment of his injuries sustained in the crash. Justice of the Peace Mike Pueschel was called to Hendrick Trauma Center and made the death pronouncement at 9:38 p.m. Next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the gray Mercedes is identified as Carolyn S. Aks, white female age 58 of Abilene. She claimed no injuries. Investigation continues.
