by Public Information Officer, Tuesday, June 12, 2012, 02:00 (2011 days ago)

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department (APD), in conjunction with the Abilene Christian University Police Department (ACU PD), conducted a joint investigation into separate criminal incidents that occurred during the morning of June 11, 2012. The investigation has led to the arrest of the below listed suspects. In conjunction with ACU PD, APD utilized Patrol, Responsive Intelligence, and Criminal Investigation Division assets in the follow-‐up investigation. The successful resolution to solving these crimes centered on preliminary investigations, evidence analysis, subsequent detection and follow-‐up investigation done collaboratively between ACU PD and APD.

On June 11, 2012 at approximately 7:20 am, a victim reported being robbed at gunpoint in a parking lot at ACU. The victim reported his wallet was stolen in this robbery. A surveillance photo of the suspect’s car was retrieved from a surveillance camera on the ACU campus. ACU PD investigators subsequently distributed the photo of the suspect vehicle to APD for distribution throughout the department. The suspect was described as a black male, around 6-feet tall, with an athletic build. The suspect vehicle was described as a maroon 4‐door compact.

Later that day (around 6:00 pm) the suspect vehicle was spotted outside a local pawn shop. There were three occupants near the car and one of them matched the description of the robbery suspect. The patrol division notified our Street Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division. Surveillance of the suspect vehicle was initiated at that time. A short time later, the vehicle was stopped and the occupants were contacted. All three suspects were transported to the Law Enforcement Center and interviewed by APD and ACU PD investigators.

The investigation revealed that all three suspects were involved in multiple offenses, including multiple car burglaries and several aggravated robberies. This includes a robbery at Hendrick Medical Center. The suspect vehicle was also seized as evidence. Stolen property, including money, has been recovered. Two guns used in the robberies were also recovered.
Our partnership with ACU PD continues to benefit the residents of Abilene, as highlighted here in this release. Their professional commitment to resolving these robberies and teaming up with APD was instrumental towards the quick identification and arrests of the suspects.

All three suspects were subsequently arrested by ACU PD and transported to the Taylor County Jail and charged with one count of aggravated robbery. Bond has been set at $100,000.00 each. Suspects arrested are all males: 1) Devin Jerone Tate, DOB 1-26-94, 2) Joshua Lynn Jimenez, DOB 3-10-90, and 3) Anthony Jermaine Rocha, DOB 12-28‐94.
Four victims have been currently identified from incidents involving robberies and burglaries.

The investigation into these offenses is ongoing and every effort is being made to link these suspects to any applicable offenses. Additional charges are expected and those cases will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.

Teamwork highlighted the accomplishments of all involved in this collaborative investigation.
