ABILENE, TX – In addition to solving property crimes, the Abilene Police Department faces the constant challenge of returning stolen property to crime victims. The Department currently has an excess of property obtained during the course of investigations that we believe might rightfully belong to some of our victims.

In an effort to reunite property to citizens, we are asking for help. We are looking for victims of crimes involving the theft of property within the last three years where the property:

* Consists of jewelry, crafted items (including furniture, art, etc.) or collectables (coins, comic books, trading cards, etc.) ; and
* Can be uniquely identified by a photograph, design, tooling, or other markings; and
* Has a value in excess of $100.

Victims with property fitting the description above are requested to contact the Department via email at: propertycrime@abilenetx.com. Please include in this email, a detailed description (including unique identifiers) of the property, the approximate date taken, and a digitized photograph (if available). Also, include a contact name, address and phone number. If we are able to associate specific property to a specific victim, we will use the contact information for follow-up and reunification.

The above email address is intended for the specific aim of this release. Any responses/inquiries unrelated to this purpose should be directed to other, existing Department contacts. For the next two weeks, we will be dedicating staff to address these responses. Although this process will be on-going for newly reported crimes, we ask that citizens respond promptly for historical cases.

Together we can impact crime.
