Child Death Investigation (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – On March 16, 2013 the Abilene Police Department and paramedics responded to an address in south Abilene after a 911 call reported that an infant was not breathing. Upon arriving, police officers and paramedics discovered that Kimberlyn Torres, a fourteen month old child, had drowned in a bathtub inside the residence. Kimberlyn was transported to Hendrick Medical Center where medical staff were able to resuscitate her. Kimberlyn was flown to Cook Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas for medical care.

On March 19, 2013 Kimberlyn Torres succumbed to the injuries she sustained from drowning. An autopsy was performed at the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. No autopsy report has been released at this time. This is an active investigation, and more information may be released at a later date.
