Shooting Incident At 2800 Block Of Sayles Boulevard (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – On Thursday April 25, 2013, at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers of the Abilene Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a shooting in the 2800 block of Sayles Boulevard. Responding officers were advised that the resident of the involved apartment had notified APD dispatch of a shooting and alleged that the injured party had broken into his apartment prior to the shooting incident. Officers arrived at the scene and contacted two involved subjects, both adult males. One subject was located inside the apartment suffering from three gunshot wounds. This person was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division responded and assumed command of the crime scene.

The preliminary investigation indicated the following: The resident of the apartment was confirmed to have been the subject that shot the other involved party. The wounded subject appeared to be suffering from non-life threatening wounds. He was subsequently transported to Lubbock, Texas, where he underwent surgery for his injuries. The shooting victim is in stable condition as of this morning, April 26th. The resident of the apartment was interviewed and released pending further investigation. Investigators have determined that the resident and the other subject knew each other and that a physical altercation occurred, resulting in a shooting.

The investigation is ongoing under case # 13-7729 and no arrest has been made at this time. More information may be released as the investigation allows.
