Motor Vehicle Fatality 2100 block of Oldham Lane (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX - On Wednesday morning, May 15th, 2013 at approximately 12:35 am, officers of the Abilene Police Department’s Patrol and Traffic Divisions responded to a call of a major motor vehicle crash in the 2100 block of Oldham Lane. Initial reporting indicated one motorcycle was involved in the crash. The motorcycle, a black 2011 Honda CBR 1100, was traveling South on Oldham Lane. The operator lost control of the motorcycle negotiating a curve and left the roadway on the east side of Oldham Lane. The operator was identified as Michael Stanton, 27 years of age, from Abilene. The motorcycle and Mr. Stanton struck a metal pole and a wrought iron fence. Mr. Stanton was the only individual on the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet. Justice of the Peace A.L. Deatherage responded to the location and pronounced Mr. Stanton deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

The roads were dry at the time of the collision and it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor. This crash is under investigation by the Abilene Police Department’s Traffic Division.
