ABILENE, TX – On September 29, 2014 at approximately 3:05 p.m. the Abilene Police Department Traffic Division responded to a major motor vehicle collision at the intersection of N. 18th and Mockingbird. The initial investigation revealed that a black Suburban collided with a white Buick in approximately the 1000 block of North Mockingbird and continued pushing the vehicle north into approximately the 1700 block of North Mockingbird. The two vehicles then separated at which time the Suburban drove into oncoming traffic for a short time before colliding with a white Nissan Quest who was also north bound. The Nissan came to rest against a light pole after impact.

All involved parties were transported by ambulance to Hendrick Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. Witness accounts indicate that the initial collision with the Buick appeared to be intentional and therefore is being investigated as an Aggravated Assault. The second collision is being investigated as a traffic collision. It is unknown if intoxication is a factor.

The secondary collision was investigated by the Abilene Police Department’s Traffic Division while the assault was investigated by the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division. More information may be released as the investigation allows.
