Halloween Safety

ABILENE, TX- The Abilene Police Department is urging citizens to be safe this Halloween season. Safety is everyone’s concern and starts with Citizens. The best way to arm yourself on Halloween is with information. The Abilene Police Department is offering these tips to both Drivers and Families out trick-or-treating:

• Drivers need to slow down, pay attention and watch out for pedestrians.
• Avoid distracted driving: limit the use of Personal Electronic Devices, including cell phones.
• Choose bright color costumes and have flashlight, glow stick and reflective tape for costumes.
• Ensure masks don’t impede your child’s vision or consider alternatives like make-up. Choose the right size mask.
• Plan on trick-or-treating in familiar neighborhoods with well-lit streets.
• Travel in groups if possible.
• Never allow children to enter a home.
• Wait until you get home and go through candy before eating.
