Two suspects arrested for disturbance in north Abilene

ABILENE, TX – Summary: Police were called out at 11:26 a.m. to a disturbance on the 700 blk. of N. Mockingbird near Abilene High School involving several people. One person was reported to be injured. When police arrived they contacted witnesses who said the people involved in the disturbance had fled the scene. The investigation led police to a house on the 1700 blk. of N. Mockingbird. Witnesses reported shots had been fired from a man at this location and one of the rounds hit a vehicle which then fled the scene.

An officer stopped the vehicle a few blocks away and upon questioning the occupants, police learned this vehicle and the occupants were involved in the original disturbance near Abilene High School. Evidence was found on the vehicle that indicated it had been struck by a bullet in the incident in the 1700 blk. of N. Mockingbird.

Lewayne Mayes, DOB 11/21/1996 was arrested for Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. Mary Lee Savord, DOB 10/6/1987 was arrested for Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. Vehicles were seized as evidence. No parties were injured as a result of the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing.
