Fraud Investigations kicks off initiative to help prevent fraud (Press Release)

ABILENE TX- The Abilene Police Department’s Fraud and Forgery Unit handles hundreds of cases each year. Financial institutions, businesses, and individuals can lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. The most important weapon in the fight against fraud is knowledge. Criminals can, and often do, target several businesses and financial institutions in a short period of time before being noticed. Given the short period of time in which these criminals operate, the rapid distribution of information to local banks and businesses regarding criminal activity is essential.

“This new initiative is only as strong as the members in it. That’s why we’re asking businesses and financial institutions to become partners with us” said Sgt. Jeff LaFrance of the Abilene Police Department Fraud Investigations.

If you are a financial institution, such as a bank, or a business, and want to take advantage of this new initiative, contact any of the Abilene Police Department Fraud Investigation Detectives:
