Police investigate multiple weekend shootings (Press Release)

Suspect in Peach St. shooting- Esteban Cepeda Carmona, 5/29/1989, in custody and charged with 1F Murder

Suspect in Texas Ave. shooting- Brian Andrew Fogiel, 2/27/1991 in custody and charged with 1F Murder

ABILENE TX- Abilene Police Detectives are investigating three different shootings which occurred over the weekend. Two men are in custody and charged with murder for two of the shootings. The other shooting where a woman shot a man in the chest has resulted in no arrests.

#1 – Saturday evening, 5:50 p.m. Police were called to an injured subject on the 400 blk. of Peach St. Police arrived to find 25 yr. old Joel Garcia dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Police also found the suspect, Esteban Carmona outside with a weapon and arrested him. He is charged with 1st degree Murder. Police interviewed several witnesses at the scene. The investigation continues.

#2 – Sunday morning, just after midnight Police were called to an injured subject on the 800 blk. of E. Hwy. 80. Witness reports say they heard a gunshot and saw a man lying on the ground. Reports say the incident involved individuals on motorcycles who got into an altercation and some had left the scene. Patrol stopped suspects matching the description on South 1st, detained and questioned them. The injured man on Hwy. 80 was taken to the hospital and treated for a gunshot wound to his chest. He remains at the hospital. The investigation continues.

#3 – Sunday afternoon, 4:30 p.m. Police were called out to the 5000 blk. of Texas Ave. for an injured subject. An officer arrived at the apartment of the incident where he found Rafael Oloyede, DOB 10/22/1991, lying inside the apartment on the ground with several apparent gunshot wounds. Other officers arrived and arrested the man’s roommate, Brian Fogiel at the scene and charged him with 1st degree Murder. Fogiel claims the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two. The investigation continues.
