National Take Back Day (Press Release)

by Public Information Officer, Monday, April 11, 2011, 02:00 (3214 days ago)

On April 30, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Abilene Police Department and the Taylor County Sheriffs Office are teaming with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your medications for disposal to the Law Enforcement Center located at 450 Pecan. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Last September, Americans turned in 242,000 pounds (121 tons) of prescription drugs at nearly 41,000 sites operated by the DEA and more than 3,000 state and local law enforcement partners. This year’s program is being co-sponsored by the Abilene Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Inc.
