Man passes away after being hit by 18-Wheeler in grocery store docking bay (Press Release)

ABILENE TX- A 59 year old milk company employee passed away this afternoon from injuries he sustained when a semi-truck backing into a loading dock of a grocery store hit and pinned him in between the dock and the trailer.

Police were called out to the 4200 Blk. of Buffalo Gap Rd. to a major accident just after 9 a.m. on May 14, 2015. Reports indicate a milk company vendor was working at a grocery store located on the 4200 Blk. of Buffalo Gap Rd. While he was on the loading dock, another delivery driver for another company driving a Freightliner Semi Tractor Trailer backed up into the loading dock to deliver his product. After backing up and coming to a stop, he was notified by a third person that he had backed into the milk delivery man and pinned him in between the trailer and the dock. The victim sustained severe injuries before the driver of the truck could pull forward. An ambulance arrived and transported the victim to the hospital with severe internal injuries. The victim passed away from his injuries several hours later at the hospital. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

No citations have been issued and the investigation continues.
