Police searching for suspect who robbed taxicab driver (Press Release)

Suspect- male, approximately 45 – 50 years of age, scruffy beard, approximately 375 lbs.

ABILENE TX- On Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11:45 p.m. Police were called to a robbery that had just occurred on Grape St. near I-20. The victim, a taxicab driver for a local company stated that a male customer had just robbed him and stole his vehicle. According to the victim, he received a call from a customer at the Spanish Arms Apartments requesting a ride to the north side Wal-Mart. The driver arrived and picked up two males. One male, approximately 45 – 50 years old, tall, thin and well shaven, got into the front passenger seat. The second male, approximately 45 – 50 years old, scruffy beard and weighing approximately 375 lbs. got into the back seat behind the driver.

The two men then stated they needed to go to convenience store on 700 block of Grape St. When they arrived, the front seat passenger got out. The back seat passenger requested to go to the north side Wal-Mart. While enroute, the passenger reached to the front, held a gun to the driver and demanded money. They eventually stopped near Grape St. and I-20. The suspect told the driver to get out and the suspect left with the car and some money. The car was located nearly two hours later abandoned in the alley way of 1700 block of Jameson and Cullen Streets.

Police are looking for the suspect and the front seat passenger for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
