Fatal one vehicle crash (Press Release)

Driver: 28 yr. old Raymond Almazan, Hispanic male – non-life-threatening injuries
Back Passenger: 27 yr. old Veronica Arredondo, Hispanic female – non-life-threatening injuries
Back Passenger: 6 yr. old Santana Arredondo, Hispanic male - critical, flown to Cook Children’s Hospital
Back Passenger: 5 yr. old Laveilia Rentana (twin), Hispanic female - deceased
Front Seat Passenger: 5 yr. old Nereida Rentana (twin), Hispanic female – non-life-threatening injuries
Back Passenger: 9 mth. old Milo Murdock, Hispanic male - critical, flown to Cook Children’s Hospital

ABILENE TX- A 5 year old female died from injuries sustained in a one vehicle rollover at around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Two others including a 9 month old male and a 6 year old male are in critical condition and were flown to Cook Children’s Hospital. Three others received non-life-threatening injuries.

Synopsis: A blue Ford Explorer driven by Raymond Almazan was southbound on FM 600 when it moved left off the roadway, striking a culvert flipping the vehicle and ejecting some of the occupants. There were four passengers in the back sleeping with the seat pulled down. None of them were wearing seatbelts. The mother, Veronica Arredondo was holding her 9 month old child Milo Murdock, while her two other children, Santana Arredondo and Leveila Rentana were asleep on either side of her in the back when the crash occurred. Almazan and front passenger, Nereida Rentana, were not wearing seatbelts and received non-life-threatening injuries.

Laveilia was pronounced dead at the hospital by Judge Mike McAuliffe. The other victims were taken to Hendrick Medical Center.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor- speed may be factor and the investigation continues.
