On 04/14/11 just before 1:00 P.M., agents of the Abilene Police Department Special Operations Division were conducting surveillance on an unrelated investigation, when they observed a known wanted subject, Kenneth Ghant. Kenneth Ghant was wanted for Aggravated Robbery from an incident in March of this year. Agents began to follow the vehicle, in which Kenneth Ghant was the front passenger, and requested the assistance of a uniformed patrol officer. Officers arrived on the scene and attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a low speed pursuit was initiated. The driver of the vehicle raised his hands several times as if he was giving up, but continued to evade. The vehicle was pursued to South Clack and Nonesuch, where Kenneth Ghant exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Kenneth Ghant was taken into custody. Further investigation revealed that Kenneth Ghant had pulled a knife on the driver and forced him to evade officers. Kenneth Ghant was arrested and charged with the Aggravated Robbery warrant, Aggravated Kidnapping and Evading on Foot. These cases will be forwarded to the Taylor County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
