Labor Day Impaired Driver Mobilization Campaign (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – ABILENE TX- From August 21st to September 7, 2015, the Abilene Police Department participated in the Texas Department of Transportation’s Labor Day Impaired Driver Mobilization Campaign. During its annual Labor Day Incentive Mobilization, TxDOT partners with law enforcement agencies across the state to make Texas roads safer through traffic law enforcement.

Participating agencies must report their activities to TxDOT in order to be eligible for an award. Fifteen agencies will be selected by random drawing to receive $3,000 awards. Funds may be used to purchase traffic safety-related equipment and/or training.

During the reporting period, the Abilene Police Department made 12 DWI arrests, 74 felony arrests, and arrested 18 fugitives. Additionally APD issued 66 speeding citations, 5 child safety seat violations, 22 Intersection Traffic Control Citations, and 93 citations to uninsured motorists.
