On October 15, 2015 at 8:19 am, Abilene’s 911 Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls regarding a rollover vehicle crash near South 7th and Danville. APD, AFD, and Metrocare responded to the scene. Upon arrival, responders located a Chevrolet Trailblazer near the embankment just off Winters Freeway and north of South 7th. Two occupants of the vehicle were trapped inside and two occupants had been ejected.

The four people involved in the crash are:

Richard Guerrero-age 24 (driver)
Camille Carrion-age 25 (front passenger)
Richard Guerrero Jr-age 3 (rear right passenger)
Jessie Guerrero-age 1 (rear left passenger)

The Trailblazer, which was northbound on the Winters Freeway, left the roadway near the South 7th Street overpass, struck a light pole, and began to roll down the embankment, eventually coming to rest on its left side. Richard Guerrero and Richard Guerrero Jr. were ejected during the rollover. Bystanders were able to roll the vehicle right side up in order to access the other two passengers.

All four occupants were transported to Hendrick Medical Center and CPR was in progress on Guerrero Jr. After arrival at Hendrick Medical Center, Richard Guerrero Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 9:09 am. Richard Guerrero and Camille Carrion are in serious condition at HMC. Jessie Guerrero is listed in good condition.

The cause of the crash and the circumstances of the ejections are still under investigation by the Abilene Police Department’s Traffic Division.
