National Police Week (Press Release)

Today (May 2, 2011) several officers of the Abilene Police Department will be in Austin Texas attending the Texas Roll Call of Honor, to pay tribute to Texas Law Enforcement Officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in 2010.

This Wednesday (May 4, 2011) the Abilene Police Department will be honoring local officers who have been killed in the line of duty. There will be two events held on this day, the first being a Flag Ceremony at the Law Enforcement Center at 9:00 A.M. The second ceremony will be the actual Local Roll Call of Honor and this will be held at the Logsdon Chapel, located at Hardin Simmons University. The Local Roll Call of Honor will start at 2:00 P.M. and is open to anyone who wishes to attend and honor these officers.

Finally the week of May 15-21, several officers from the Abilene Police Department will be traveling to Washington D.C. for the National Law Enforcement Memorial. This will be to honor all officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2010. During this memorial, Officer Rodney Holder’s name will be forever etched in stone on the Memorial’s wall.
