ABILENE, TX – A 99 year old Abilene woman passed away at Hendrick Medical Center this morning from injuries sustained in a two vehicle crash. Police were called to the intersection of Ambler Avenue and Clinton Street at 8:22 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016. A silver Hyundai car, with a male driver and female passenger, was traveling west bound on Ambler on the inside lane. As the third vehicle turned onto Clinton, the driver of the blue Ford pulled into the intersection, striking the Hyundai on the passenger side door, causing it to cross the oncoming lanes of traffic and hit a tree. The two occupants of the Hyundai were taken to Hendrick Hospital. The female passenger passed away a short time later from the injuries sustained as a result of the crash. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The two occupants in the Hyundai are from Abilene. The driver is 65 years of age. The female passenger was 99 years of age and the mother of the male driver. The driver of the blue Ford is 28 years old. The investigation into this crash continues.

Name of the victim will be released pending notification of next of kin. Other names will be released in the near future.
