Police Arrest Two Suspects After a South Abilene Shooting (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – One person was transported to Abilene Regional Medical Center after sustaining several gunshot wounds from an altercation at a South Abilene apartment complex on Saturday, November 12, 2016. The 19 year old male victim was outside of an apartment, located on the 2800 Block of S. 25th Street, when the altercation escalated. Gunshots were fired between at least two subjects. The male victim, who was hit multiple times, was transported to the hospital by private auto for treatment of his injuries.

Police arrived on the scene at 11 p.m. after receiving numerous calls of gunshots from residents in and around the apartment complex. The call was dispatched as an Injured Subject. After securing the scene and a preliminary investigation, two subjects were arrested on drug and weapons charges. Emmanuel Mims and Kimberly Owens were arrested for State Jail Theft of a Firearm and Class A Possession of Marijuana. Owens and Mims lived at the apartment where the shooting occurred. Detectives located over $10,000 in cash, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia and a stolen firearm in the apartment rented by Owens and Mims. Witnesses are being uncooperative with the investigation. No one has been charged in the shooting and the investigation continues.
