Russian National Arrested on Drug Charge (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – On Wednesday, November 30, 2016, Abilene Police Officers from the Responsive Intelligence and Special Operations Divisions and Patrol, arrested 44 year old Russian National, Aleksey Trapeznikov. Police stopped Trapeznikov for a traffic violation in an alley off the 100 Block of Jefferson and San Jose Streets at 3 p.m. During a subsequent search, Police located 5.49 grams of Fentanyl on him. He was taken into custody, and charged with First Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is being held at the Taylor County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $96,000.

Fentanyl is a powerful, and potential dangerous, synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but much more potent. It is used to treat patients with severe pain or pain management post-surgery.

Due to his nationality, required documents were sent to the Russian Consulate in Houston, Texas. Trapeznikov could face deportation due to the arrest and other considerations.
