Geo Command (Press Release)

by Police Administration, Wednesday, June 01, 2011, 02:00 (2388 days ago)

The Abilene Police Department has upgraded its website and is providing citizens with access to the “Geo Command” process. Geo Command breaks down the city into 4 reporting areas each with a Lieutenant assigned. The purpose of Geo Command is to provide a means for citizens to contact the commander for the area of town in which they reside and report chronic problems. The Geo Commanders can then allocate police resources to help combat those problems. Communication with the Geo Commanders will be via email which is on the above link. This means of communication does not replace the 911 system or the regular telephone reporting of non-recurring problems. This is a means to address chronic problems that arise in each of these geographic areas. Daily reports should still be made by calling the main Police Department number of 673-8331 and emergencies by calling 911.

“We are pleased to offer this service to our citizens. Effective policing requires collaboration, and we believe our citizens are critical to maintaining a safe community. In fact, they are the first line of defense. We look forward to yet another aspect of community policing, as we work together for a safer Abilene.”
