Abilene Police to Assist Law Enforcement with Hurricane Efforts (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department will be assisting Law Enforcement efforts in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey which hit the Texas coast over the weekend. The Department of Public Safety is requesting assistance from Texas Law Enforcement agencies. The Abilene Police Department will send eight officers to Katy TX, this afternoon. The officers will be assisting area law enforcement agencies with rescues and shelter security, or as directed.

The eight officers will work a 12-hour shift workweek. Once they complete their workweek, they will rotate home where another eight officers will replace them. These efforts are very fluid and are subject to change frequently.
