Suspect Arrested By Street Crimes Unit After Escaping Custody (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – James Holder (50 yoa) was taken into custody by Abilene Police after observing the suspect in a stolen vehicle at a south Abilene residence in early May. Holder was charged with State Jail Felony Theft and taken into custody and booked into the Taylor County Jail.

Holder then contacted a bail bondsman who took him to a residence to obtain money for his bail but escaped custody and fled the area. A warrant was issued for his arrest. A short time later, a work truck was stolen from a residence on the 1800 Block of Jackson St. by a white male believed to be Holder. Several items were stolen from the vehicle which was recovered at a nearby church parking lot.

A third vehicle was reported stolen from the 1100 Block of Woodlawn Dr. The Street Crimes Unit located this vehicle and set up surveillance at a south Abilene location. Agents observed Holder getting into the vehicle. Patrol Officers attempted to stop holder who fled, but was subsequently captured a short time later by a K-9 officer after fleeing on foot.

This group effort by Patrol and Street Crimes, helped place Holder back behind bars. He is charged with two counts of State Jail Felony Theft of Property and Third Degree Felony Evading Arrest.
