ABILENE, TX – Sprint Cellular and the Abilene Police Department are partnering up to help curb the crime trend by offering phones for use to victims of domestic violence. Victims of domestic violence are often left without a way to contact needed services during this critical time. Help for victims is available through various services, and now they will be able to call those services, free of charge, thanks to the donation by our local Sprint store.

Sprint is generously donating 80 cell phones with $1,600 in minutes to the Abilene Police Department, specifically for domestic violence victims who are encountered out on the streets. Officers will be able to hand the phone to a victim, in order for them to call for assistance they may need. The Noah Project has also agreed to help with minutes once the original minutes run out. The Abilene Police Department welcomes this partnership which will help our citizens at no cost to them.

Sprint will present the phones on Thursday, May 31, at their store located at 3226 S. Clack St. at 10:30 a.m. Sgt. Kevin Ohnheiser will be present to make comments on behalf of the Abilene Police Department as well as representatives from Sprint.
