Click It or Ticket Campaign Ends (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – From May 21 through June 3, 2017, the Abilene Police Department teamed up with TX DOT to take part in the Click it or Ticket campaign to help bring seat belt safety awareness. Through a grant, the Department increased patrol units through the Memorial Day Holiday.

A total of 80 hours were spent looking for violators. In that time, 101 citations were issued:
44 Seat belt violations
1 Safety Seat
27 Speeding
6 Registration Violations
10 Driver’s License
13 other citations

Thirty warnings were issued and 21 contact-only (no citation) were made. One person was arrested for Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.
