Suspect Arrested on 14 Counts of Invasive Visual Recording Charges (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Detectives arrested 38 year old T.J. Paul Helser late this afternoon on 14 counts of Invasive Visual Recording charges which is punishable by a State Jail Felony on each count.

On Friday, June 22, a female citizen reported to Police that she had discovered a video recording device hidden in a restroom of a south Abilene fast food restaurant. After obtaining surveillance video of the suspect, Abilene Police released video seeking public assistance in identifying him. Through several tips from both Abilene Crime Stoppers and from citizens calling the non-emergency number, a suspect was identified. Officers detained the suspect for questioning and after serving a search warrant on a home in the 1200 Block of Shelton, arrested Helser on the above charges.

A female in the home was also arrested on an unrelated drug charge. Kelsey Brown was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine. Helser and Brown were both transported to the Taylor County Jail. The investigation is ongoing
