ABILENE, TX – On October 18, Detectives with APD’s Fraud Unit executed a search & arrest warrant in the 2000 Block of Butternut in relations to a Burglary of a Habitation case.

Jacob Knight Winters (42 yoa), was arrested for Second Degree Felony Burglary of Habitation and for State Jail Felony Possession of Heroin.

The burglary had occurred in the 800 block of Shallow Water trail. Numerous packages and other thefts and burglaries had occurred in the Indian Wells and Dakota Springs Subdivisions. Police believe Winters to be involved in many of these cases, many of which have gone unreported thus far.

The neighborhood did a tremendous job in helping police in this investigation by keeping an eye out for suspicious activity and for providing surveillance footage. Winters was spotted by numerous neighbors in his maroon sport utility vehicle prowling the neighborhood on numerous occasions.

Included is a picture of the maroon sport utility vehicle he was using to commit these crimes. If you have any information regarding his criminal activity please call the Abilene Police Department, 673-8331 and ask for the Fraud Unit.
