Police Arrest Suspect In Multiple Convenience Store Robberies & Searching for Second Suspect (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – Detectives with the Abilene Police Department arrested 17 year old Kariem Quickel on Friday, October 26, on suspicion of robbing several convenience stores over the past few days. He was found walking near North 6th and Mockingbird and brought in for questioning. Through the subsequent investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained.

Multiple convenience stores were robbed at gunpoint beginning last Saturday, October 20. Four more stores were robbed in the overnight hours of Thursday, October 25. The suspects were described as two Black males, in their early 20’s or younger, thin build and concealing their faces with clothing. The suspects also displayed a firearm and demanded money from the clerks they robbed. In each instance, money and/or cigarettes were taken.

2. Sunday, October 21, 11:50 p.m. – S. 14th & Treadaway 7-11
3. Wednesday, October 24, 12:19 a.m. – 2702 Ambler Allsup’s
4. Thursday, October 25, 11:08 p.m. – 6026 Hwy 277 Stripes
5. Thursday, October 25, 11:18 p.m. – 3131 S. Danville 7-11
6. Thursday, October 25, 11:42 p.m. – 2401 S. 1st Allsup’s
7. Thursday, October 25, 11:52 p.m. – 3401 Ambler 7-11

Quickel is charged with three counts of First Degree Felony Aggravated Robbery, Class A Resisting Arrest, Class A Possession of a Controlled Substance and Class B Possession of Marijuana. He is in the Taylor County Jail with bonds totaling over $600,000.
