Authorities Arrest Two Suspects for Fraud, Forgery and Burglary (Press Release)

ABILENE, TX – Police arrested 27 year old Chelsea Gonzales and boyfriend, 33 year old Daniel Cheek on Drug, Fraud, Burglary and Forgery charges. On Wednesday, April 25, 2019, the Abilene Police Department’s Fraud Unit, while working a joint investigation with the Texas Department of Public Safety, arrested the two on numerous felony violations. Both suspects are from the Abilene area.

Police stopped Cheek in the 2300 block of S. Danville. K9 Barco gave a positive alert on the vehicle. Cheek was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, forged checks and stolen pieces of identifying information. He was arrested and transported to the LEC.

A search warrant was executed on his motel room in the 1700 block of E. Overland Trail. Chelsea Gonzalez was located inside the room and found to be in possession of stolen mail, over 20 stolen identities and methamphetamine. Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the LEC.

The subsequent investigation led to an additional search warrant being executed on a vehicle found in the alley of the 800 block of N. Judge Ely and to three storage units being searched.

Investigators recovered numerous firearms, vehicles, and other property stolen from various storage units from Abilene and other cities across Texas. Over 100 pieces of identifying information belonging to citizens were recovered.
