Fatality Collision on Interstate 20 (Press Release)

On April 27th, 2019 at approximately 8:52pm, the Abilene Police Department received multiple calls in reference to a vehicle collision on Interstate 20 westbound, near exit 281.

Initial reports indicated that a white Mustang had struck the center guardrail and the vehicle was on fire. Multiple citizens that were traveling along the Interstate stopped and attempted to put out the fire. The Abilene Fire Department responded to the scene and ultimately extinguished the fire.

After the fire was extinguished, it was discovered that the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash was deceased. The deceased was transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending positive identification and next of kin notification.

Members of the Abilene Police Department's Traffic Division are continuing the investigation.
